getbased downloads app updates in the background while you use it. An update changes the application code and styles; it does not require a new account, a new Sync identity or clearing your saved data.

Apply an update

  1. Finish and save any work in an open editor before reloading.
  2. When Update ready appears, choose Reload to apply it, or Later to keep using the current version.
  3. While the banner shows Updating…, wait for the app to finish. The buttons are temporarily disabled to prevent duplicate actions, and the page reloads when the accepted update is ready.
You may also see New version installed with a Reload choice when a reload is still needed. Returning to an earlier page can restore that offer; it does not automatically accept another update for you.

If the update is paused or takes too long

Some open tabs or installed-app windows may still be using an older version. If the banner says Update paused to protect open tabs, close all getbased tabs and installed-app windows, then reopen getbased while online. Closing only the tab with the banner can leave another copy open. If an update cannot start or takes longer than expected, the banner restores Retry update or Reload. Use the offered action, then choose to apply the available update when prompted. You can also close all getbased tabs/app windows and reopen. Older versions may not show the newer recovery message, so the same close-all-and-reopen step can help when their Reload button leaves an update waiting.
Do not clear site data, reset Sync or delete a profile just to apply an update. Browser storage contains your local health data and settings. Keep a separate backup, especially before deliberate storage cleanup or moving to another browser or host.
A failed update download leaves the currently active build available. Connect to the network again to obtain an update; a first installation does not need to show an update prompt.

Use getbased offline

Open the app online first and allow it to finish caching its application files. Cached browser-local workflows and already saved data can then work without a network connection, including labs, charts and local encryption. This also applies to a supported installed Progressive Web App (PWA). Network features have separate requirements:
  • Hosted AI needs a connection to the selected provider. Local AI depends on the local model/server being available.
  • Downloaded voice or local models must be acquired separately; app caching does not include every optional model.
  • Wearable connection/refresh, live weather or atmosphere requests, cross-device Sync and remote sharing need their respective services.
If a feature needs the network, reconnect and retry it. App caching and installation are not substitutes for a backup of your profile data.

Keep the same browser origin

Local data belongs to the browser profile and the exact website origin. A different hostname, port, browser profile or private window does not automatically contain the same records. Use export/import or deliberately configure cross-device Sync when moving. For installation options, see the quickstart. Operators should follow self-hosting to publish the complete matching build and preserve its offline assets.
